This is actually quite similar to the writing industry. Rejection comes with the territory.
It could also mean they can't afford it. It could be that they have a specific voice in mind or they have friends that are willing to read something for them. Some people decide to try and read the script for themselves because they worry about copyright issues. There are lots of reasons.
voice talent are artists and artists are cursed with over sensitive / emotional and often melancholy tendencies. 99 compliments make the day, but 1 harsh criticism / rejection ruins the whole week (or month).
Good morning Bill! Just to let you know, my new routine in the morning is to watch your videos while I'm on the treadmill. This way I'm the most relaxed and open-minded. I have said it once before, if after all these years of ignoring my gift and my talent (my voice)... if I finally become a successful voice over artist... you will absolutely be at the top of my list of those people who I would thank for getting me there. You are so down to earth, and watching your videos always gives me that feeling of, "of course you can do this silly!" lol
